I almost can't believe that I'm actually done. Just...my life went through a lot in the time I was writing this, and just...yeah. Status: 13/14
Fandom: FF7
Rating: PG
Word count: 2450
Summary: And as odd as it was to hear Reno speaking Wutai, it didn't quite match the brain-bending of seeing Reno cooking.
A/N: OMFG, we're almost done--there's only one more part after this, the last "Wutai" epilogue. That's still got some work to do, but still. OMFG like whoa.

Title: The Things You Never Knew About People - Revenge
Status: 11/14
Fandom: FF7
Rating: R
Word count: 9575
Summary: Sometimes, it's personal.
A/N: Sorry it took longer than I thought to get this part out; I had some problems with tendonitis in my right wrist, which made typing a pain in the butt. ^^;; It almost DIDN'T come out because right after I finished it, Evernote bleeping DELETED IT. Thankfully, I had saved a copy to Dropbox because I am paranoid. Y'all, make sure you always back things up.

[Fic] Why They Actually Do Get On: Chapter Three - The Clever Ones

Title: Why They Actually Do Get On
Chapter Title: The Clever Ones
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count:3,400ish
Summary: The violin helps Sherlock think, and Donovan rather likes to read.
A/N: Apologies for the massive delay! :( Blame computer issues (my laptop died then I couldn't get my new computer hooked up to the internet, and all my fic is on Evernote), massive amounts of overtime, my company telling me to learn Chinese and take a proficiency test (whut), AND a busted right hand on top of all that. It's been an, uhh, interesting couple of months. Oh, and also researching for another fic that wants to be a series. Ahahaha, I need more hours in the day.

Anyway! Chapter-specific notes! Sherlock started out playing the ciaccona from Bach's Violin Partita #2 in D minor, then flipped over to Lutoslawski's partita for violin and orchestra, and finally John Adam's violin concerto, movement III: Toccare. And there's a nod to ACD canon in here in regards to Sherlock's violin. And I brought up Gaiman because, heh, "A Study in Emerald." XDDDDD

[fic] Why They Actually Do Get On - Ch. 2: Just a Bit

Title: Why They Actually Do Get On
Chapter Title: Just a Bit
Fandom: Sherlock
Status: 2/4
Word Count:3075ish
Warnings: A bit of a gory murder
Summary: Sometimes Sherlock says things that are a bit not good. But John gets it. He does.
A/N: I...yeah, I did not intend for it to take this long to get this chapter done, but work turned into hell (overtime...so much overtime...*cry*) so I spent my weekends passed out asleep instead of being productive, then I started getting ideas for the casefic aspect, despite the case not being the point, and had to research, and arrrrgh. Yeah, so, this took way longer than I expected. Sowwy! Un-beta'd and un-britpicked, alas, alack. ^^;;

[fic] Why They Actually Do Get On - Ch. 1

Title: Why They Actually Do Get On
Status: 1/4 [...I think]
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count:2755
Characters: John Watson, Sherlock Holmes, the folks at the NSY
Warnings: A bit of mention of blood, gore, and experiments gone pbbth.
Summary: There are reasons that Sherlock and John get on so well.
A/N: This happened because, as I was writing Mycroft's take on Sherlock and John for "Why They Get On," I realized all three ficlets could have been taking place over the same day/case, and decided to go from there (decided when I, everybody all together now, got bored at work). Vaguely caseficcy, but only vaguely, since the case isn't actually the point (also, I can't be arsed for all that research - bored at work fic, yo). Gen or pre-slash, depending on however you want to read it. :)

Not brit-picked, alas, alack, so any glaring Americanisms are completely and wholly my fault (I tried to catch as many as I could, but y'all know how it goes). And any overall screwy English is due to me forgetting English, which I do from time to time because I've been living in a non-English speaking country for a decade now and am kinda forgetting how my native language works. XD;;;

Doing short chapters instead of one long fic is an experiment for me, so we'll see how it goes. ^^;;

[fic] Fratres for Violin and Piano

Title: Fratres for Violin and Piano
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 2622
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, John Watson is just along for the ride
Warnings: Musical catfighting
Summary: Every year, the Holmes boys pick a duet to play for Mummy. She'd always hoped it would help them get along better. This is, sadly, not the case, but John can see why she does it.
A/N: I was listening to Arvo Part's Fratres for Violin and Piano, and then I suddenly realized, duh, what "fratres" meant, and then, um. This happened.

Just imagine that duet ramped up to 11 for this. >XD;;;

John knew better than to even wonder why when the black car pulled up to him and Sherlock as they were walking home from the nice little Thai place that had just opened. )

[fic] Here There Be

Title: Here There Be
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 862
Characters: Sherlock Holmes
Summary: Because every castle, or palace, as the case may be, has a dungeon.
A/N: Sometimes when I'm bored at work, my fic brain makes nice, wholesome crack. Sometimes it makes something neither nice nor wholesome, because it clearly does not believe in us having nice things.

This takes place during the Baskerville ep.

[fic] Violin Concerto I

Title: Violin Concerto I
Author: joudama
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 1400ish
Summary: Nighttime is a different world; one in which Sherlock plays music that is unlike him and John's mind plays nightmares that leave him unlike himself.
A/N: I was bored at work (oh, that oft-repeated refrain) and listening to movement II of this violin concerto. This happened. It was originally supposed to be a part of another fic, then it sort of stood up and said no, it wanted to be a solo. And there you go.

[fic] A Terrible and Strange Simpatico

Title: A Terrible and Strange Simpatico
Author: joudama
Fandom: Sherlock
Characters: Mycroft Holmes, John Watson
Word Count: 975
Rating: PG
A/N: It occurred to me there was one thing Mycroft and John had in common that very few people seem to really touch on. I dunno, maybe it just jumped out at me.
Summary: It was a terrible and strange simpatico that John Watson and Mycroft Holmes shared; one that could not be put into words and that could not and would not be mentioned even obliquely.

[fic]Doing the Legwork

Title: Doing the Legwork
Author: joudama
Series: Why They Get On (3/3)
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 610
Summary: Mycroft Holmes is quite certain he knows what it is his brother sees in John Watson. And what John Watson sees in his brother.
A/N: I wasn't bored at work this time! ...I was bored at home and not wanting to clean. Oh, we all knew this one was coming; don't know who I was fooling, thinking I'd be able to just write the two. And lol, I actually had to Look Shit Up for this one.

[fic] Sussing It Out

Title: Sussing It Out
Author: joudama
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 530ish
Summary: What Donovan hasn't quite got sussed out yet is who's fucking who.
A/N: Um, this is what happens when a random sentence strikes me AGAIN when I'm supposed to be working but my eyes are glazing over and I'm also contemplating painkillers. ^^;;  I didn't even kind of plan for a sequel or continuation of "Why They Got On," but people seemed to like it, and out of nowhere, I thought about Sally Donovan and her little theories, and, um...yeah, this. I'm fighting off doing Mycroft and making this a right little trilogy, just so y'all all know. So glad today is Friday and no work tomorrow. XD )

Also, like yesterday, not even in the tiniest bit beta'd; like I said, I wrote it on the sly at work while constantly switching windows if anyone was nearby and then stealthily uploaded via my iPad during my lunchbreak (yay, Evernote!)

If any Americanisms slipped in, I apologize in advance. ^^;;

[fic] 'Cause Really

Title: 'Cause Really
Author: joudama
Fandom: Sherlock
Word Count: 338
Notes: This is inspired by "The Happy Song" by the Poets of the Fall, and really, if you listen to it, you'll completely understand why I heard this song and knew a Moriarty fic based on it HAD to be written.  Moral imperative, and all that. XD

Simple little lyrics, really, that suit Moriarty to a T: "You knew I am a psycho. I told you I'm a psycho. 'Cause really, I'm a psycho. Told you I'm a psycho."

Same as I originally figured "Between a Good Man and a Great One," I thought this would be a full fic. But then I realized, no, this was a character study to go with the Sherlock one. Then it was easy.

Oh, now this is going to be funsies. )

[fic] Between a Good Man and a Great One

Title: Between a Good Man and a Great One
Author: joudama
Fandom: Sherlock
Word count: 700ish
Author's Notes: Ahaha, writing Sherlock is hard. >XD I didn't plan to write this today; it just sorta happened. I thought this fic would be longer, but then it went, "No, short is just the right length" and there you go.

The border between a good man and a great man is more than that of a single word, and the gulf between the two is wide. )

[fic] Harrow Children: Part the Second [1/7]

Title: Harrow Children
Author: joudama
Fandom: FF7 (Advent Children AU)
Rating: R
Word count: 30,000, give or take
Status: 3/5 (prologue, three parts, epilogue)
Summary: The line between the quick and the dead is thin and blurred, and some fragments of memories live on past death.
Prompt: Zack lives!Advent Children AU.
A/N: Blame [info]chibirisuchan for this plotbunnicula. *hearts* Also sorry for the massive delay; blame it on me being pretty sick for most of 2009. I also apologize for any extreme goofiness with punctuation; I had to switch word processing programs, and there have been...issues.

If you haven't read the first part of this, this isn't going to make a lot of sense--this starts right where the first part left off, no recap or anything. ^^;; Also, if you haven't read the revised version--which takes into account new scenes from Advent Children Complete, go read that! It's much longer and more detailed! :D

Just as a warning, there's a couple of scenes that have bits of dialogue from Crisis Core and Final Fantasy 7. Unfortunately, yeah, I didn't use the official English translations for them. So they may not be exact, but the gist should be there. ^^;;

I also kind of recommend reading a short fic I did a while back, Shevirat ha-kelim, since some of the imagery I use in sections of this is based on that--or rather, based on the same Jewish mysticism I used in it (which gets explained in the the A/N section). It's one of the Ein Sof fics (a series I really need to get back to, oh god, I need more time). You don't need to read it, of course, but it'll add an extra layer of understanding to some things. ^^;;

And as for this chapter itself. yeah, this is, um, long. I kinda broke NeoOffice's stupid limit for "web view" while I was working on it (which led to me snapping and moving over to Bean. ARGH, but is it too much to ask for bloody Draft View? *stabbity*) It's, yeah. A wee bit lengthy.

And remember how I said in the author's notes to Part the First that this was all butterfly effect? Here is where it begins to deviate wildly! :D

[fic] Ienai

Title: Ienai
Author: joudama
Fandom: Metal Gear Solid
Rating: PG
Word count: 900-ish
Summary: For you, some things cannot be spoken; cannot be healed.
Song Prompt: Birdcage - Gackt
A/N: Written for fictunes.
The title, "Ienai," is Japanese, and I picked it for three reasons:

1. Otacon (Hal Emmerich) is a giant anime otaku; you know that man knows Japanese.
2. The line in "Birdcage" I genked the title from is 「悲しみは癒えない」 [kanashimi wa ienai]--"my loneliness can't be healed."
3. In Japanese, the words for "can't be healed," 「癒えない」, and "can't be spoken," 「言えない」, are homonyms--the kanji are different, but they're pronounced the same, "ienai."

This takes place after MGS2 and assumes you know Otacon's terrible, awful backstory. ;_; If not, here, take a moment to watch this clip and feel your heart getting pulled out and stomped on. "E.E" is Emma Emmerich, Otacon's step-sister. Until the clip, he hadn't seen her since she was six. And that dumb bird was hers.

[fic] Soft

Title: Soft
Fandom: Metal Gear Solid
Rating: PG
Word count: @1330
Summary: Hal Emmerich is soft, and what is soft is malleable.
A/N: ...I've spent the last few days watching MGS walkthroughs, and Otacon is officially my favorite woobie nerdboy. This takes place right after the Otacon ending for MGS1.

You don't really need to know who the characters are, but hey, just in case: Hal Emmerich/Otacon and Solid Snake (warning, that wiki page for Hal tells his terrible backstory right off the bat.) During the game, they looked like this.

...I'm still like "WTF, MGS fanfic, I'm writing what?" Self-depreciating LOL @ self.
